ABOUT THE AFARA FOUNDATION

The Afara Foundation is a 501(c)3 registered non-profit in the United States. The mission of TAF is to promote social progress, economic development, and democratic governance in Africa by providing monetary grants to impact-focused social enterprises and organizations within the United States and across Africa.

We carry out our mandate through a partnership with The Afara Initative, a non-profit based in Nigeria that seeks to prepare future-fit graduates at scale. It does so through its programs, The Bridge (highly selective leadership-oriented fellowship), and The Pathway (democratized employment-oriented program embedded in universities).

Please note that, in strict conformance with IRS guidelines regarding “friends of” nonprofit organizations, The Afara Foundation (TAF) does not accept contributions that are earmarked for or required to be distributed to The Afara Initiative or any other organization. The Board of Directors of TAF has complete discretion to control the disposition of any contributions the organization receives in furtherance of its charitable purposes. This ensures that gifts made to TAF are tax deductible to U.S. donors and that TAF fulfills its duties and obligations as a U.S. tax exempt organization under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code
